SmartPass trial

3..2..1…Lift off! As part of our Department for Transport technology innovation grant, we launched DriverNet SmartPass system this week with Kuehne and Nagel at their Trafford Park depot. Trials are now live on their Whitbread client’s customer sites and distribution centres across the UK. The trial will run throughout May before we submit our findings back to the DfT’s innovation and science team. Watch this space for the results..

DfT T TRIG Funding

We were recently awarded a Department for Transport T TRIG ( Transport Technology Research Innovation Grant ) to test and trial DriverNet’s SmartPass site entry system. Development is well under way with live testing scheduled to take place in mid to late May to measure the potential impact SmartPass can have on reducing queueing times and emissions outside customer sites.

New DriverNet HQ

As part of our partnership with the University Centre St Helens, we are pleased to announce that we have now moved into larger offices in the iconic Beecham’s building, situated on the main town centre campus. The building, which dates back to the 1880’s and was the former HQ of pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline, is now home to the Business Incubation Project.

Innovation Awards

It was a double dose of good news this week on the innovation front. Firstly, Drivernet was named as the February monthly winners of the Merseyside Innovation Awards, which now sees us into the finals which take place at the Liverpool Crown Plaza in July. And details of securing public funding to assist in the development of our Smart Q system will be formally announced in late March.

Talking Tech

Our CEO Ant recently accepted an invite from the local chambers of commerce to speak to A Level enterprise and innovation students at Carmel College in St Helens. Ant went through his own education and career in logistics as well as discussing technology, the story of how the DriverNet app started, the pros and cons of entrepreneurship and gave a full demonstration our driver app in motion.

Telefonica Program

We were invited to Telefonica’s HQ London to receive our first winners award after being selected as one of the top 5 tech start ups in the North of the UK. We are looking forward to join the Wayra accelerator in February 2017 and becoming part of the wider Telefonica Open future global start up community, which has helped 150 UK tech start ups secure investment since its launch in 2012.
